Go 0 to 360 with Infineon Technologies' TLE5012B Magnetic Angle Sensors Now at Mouser

June 1, 2015 - Mouser Electronics, Inc., the global authorized distributor with the newest semiconductors and electronic components, is now stocking the TLE5012B GMR-Based Angle Sensors from Infineon Technologies. Based on an integrated Giant Magneto Resistive (iGMR) technology, the TLE5012B series combines magneto resistive sensing elements with integrated circuits all in one chip. These magnetic angle sensors offer high angular accuracy and resolution and can determine the absolute orientation of a magnetic field over the full range between 0° and 360°.

The Infineon TLE5012B GMR-Based Angle Sensors, available from Mouser Electronics, are designed for energy-saving motor control applications. TheTLE5012B sensors operate on a supply voltage of 5V, and help in directly measuring rotor angle, which can increase efficiency, reduce vibrations, and cut noise levels to ensure smoother motor integration. The sensors are equipped with a bi-directional, 3‑pin Synchronous Serial Communication (SSC) interface that is SPI compatible. Additionally the TLE5012B offers four other interfaces: Pulse-Width-Modulation (PWM) Protocol, Short-PWM-Code (SPC) Protocol, Hall Switch Mode (HSM) and Incremental Interface (IIF), all of which can be used in parallel with SSC or on their own.

The TLE5012B series of magnetic angle sensors feature extended data-processing functions, several user-selectable interfaces, and a 42 μs update rate — all helping to minimize delay time and provide high signal resolution. The integrated signal processing reduces the load of the microcontroller by performing precise angle calculations and calibration algorithms. The TLE5012B devices offer an angle accuracy of 1° with 15-bit resolution over the entire functionality range. All magnetic angle sensors within the TLE500x/TLE501x family offer extremely rapid updating and high efficiency and are automotive qualified. The devices are available through Mouser Electronics in a dual small outline (DSO) 8-pin package, and are ideally suited for a broad array of sensor and motor control-based applications — especially brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives.
